Thousands of students have taken classes at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County since it first opened its doors in the fall of 1968. The campus along with the Washington County Campus Foundation welcome alumni as well as community members to the campus to celebrate this 50th year anniversary. 

 

All alums and the public are invited to one or all of the anniversary events scheduled from October 24-26. The celebration culminates on Oct. 26 with a preconcert party before Brit Beat (Beatles tribute band) performs in our theatre. Reacquaint with your professors, classmates & old friends!

Wednesday, October 24: Vietnam War Veterans’ Panel Discussion, 6:30pm, campus theatre 

Hear from three local Vietnam veterans – John Butschlick, John Kleinmaus and Richard Lindbeck – as they share thoughts and memories of their military service in Vietnam. The moderator is Tim Thering, Associate Professor of History, UWM at Waukesha. Free admission – everyone is welcome.  

 

Thursday, October 25: Discussion of Early Years on Campus, 3:30pm, Room 228 

Several founding faculty and students from the charter class of 1968 will share memories and insights of the early years on campus. Faculty include Thomas Brigham (Athletics) and Gary Britton (Mathematics). Alumni include Larry and Ruth Ann Bales and Jon Sanfilippo. The moderator is Dan Anhalt, Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration. Free admission – everyone is welcome.  

 

Friday, October 26: 50th Anniversary Social – 6pm to 7pm, Bistro area/theatre lobby  

Mix and mingle with faculty, friends and alumni! Cost is $15 per personincludes beverage and

Friday, October 26: BritBeat concert – 7:30pm, Campus theatre

It’s back to the 60s with this multi-media concert journey through Beatles music history with the BritBeat band. Get ready to “Twist and Shout” with the band that looks and sounds just like the Beatles! Spot-on-renditions of all the Beatles favorites from “Love Me Do” to “Let it Be” and everything in between will be performed, as we celebrate the 60s.
