LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Returning (2nd yr) and Transferring (3rd yr) students
It is important to get a letter of recommendation from a Professor, Part Time Instructor, or a member of the staff from the University that you are currently attending. If you cannot get one from someone on-campus, please ask an employer, mentor or coach.
Please make sure to ask them early so that they have time to write a letter for you. The professors/lecturers/staff members can either hand you the letter, or because of confidentiality concerns, they can send it to the Foundation directly via email attachment to terry@wccf-wi.org
ALWAYS get a NEW Letter of Recommendation – DO NOT use one from the year before!
Incoming or New Freshmen students
Please get a letter of recommendation from a teacher at your high school, or a letter from someone, not related to you – like your boss, mentor, or coach. The letter can be uploaded as a pdf file by you, or have them send it to terry@wccf-wi.org to attach it to your scholarship application if they have confidentiality concerns.
In reviewing last year’s recommendation letters, the ones that stand out talk about first meeting the student in class, and then explaining how the student has excelled as a person and student. They cover things like leadership, academics, work ethic, integrity, responsibility, being prepared and helping others.
The letter of recommendation should indicate that the student is committed to getting a degree and being successful in college.
